Effectiveness of Sociality Improvement Programs for School-aged ADHD Children - a Meta-analysis

Abstract
This study aims to prove the effectiveness of the sociality improvement programs for domestic school-aged ADHD children by the meta-analysis, and to examine the factors affecting the effect. The sociality improvement programs for domestic school-aged ADHD children from 1990 to 2012 was collected for this study, and total 31 papers came up to a standard were used. As a result of the verification of the first problem, the overall average effect size of the sociality improvement program was the large effect size according to the standard provided by Cohen(1998). As the results of application of the adjusted a value through the bonferroni method in order to validate the second research question, there was no statistically significant difference from the age distribution of members, group size, number of group session, time per group session, frequency of group session, methods of group program, the effect size by the parent training meeting. This study has significance that proved the effectiveness of the sociality improvement programs based on the children with school-age ADHD by the meta-analysis, and examined the research trends of the program which were conducted in the country up to 2012. But the number of individuals was not enough so the published papers in domestic and abroad fields are suggested to be included in the subsequent research. In addition, it was proposed additionally that the effectiveness should be estimated by the various raters in particular by the study based on the children.
